Testimonials

"My son Rory is so keen to go to piano class every week and we never have to fight about practicing. Rory has special needs around learning and Laura's teaching style and calm personality have ensured music remains a positive in his life and his love for it grows in her presence. I happily recommend Laura and sing her praises as a piano teacher". -Parent

"My daughter really enjoys attending piano lessons with Laura particularly the games Laura creates and plays with her as part of her musical learning journey.

Although we do not have a piano yet, I often catch my daughter playing others pianos and keyboards thanks to Laura's wonderful teaching and am happy to recommend her to others".- Parent

"My daughter has been attending piano/music lessons with Laura since the day she opened her studio.  Prior to starting with Laura, my daughter had another teacher and it was always a battle to get her to the lesson because she found it monotonous and 'boring' (her words!).  With Laura, my daughter has LOVED attending her lesson every week.  She is enthusiastic to get there, loves sharing what she has been learning and gets so much enjoyment out of all the interactive games, colourful musical props and of course, playing the piano!  Her progression with Laura has been great.

Laura's lesson is more than just a piano lesson.  It is half an hour of learning how to 'enjoy music'.  Thank you Laura for engaging my daughter so successfully (not an easy task at the best of times!) and for your fantastic teaching skills".-Parent

My Montessori teaching mentor visited my piano studio and left me a raving review!

"As founder and Program Director of Age of Montessori, I have had the pleasure of visiting many schools around the world. And I have never seen such a thorough, hands-on presentation of the foundations of music suitable for children as I saw in Laura's studio. A child will be in music heaven in any of her classes. Bravo, Laura, for the creativity of the materials you make available for the children!"- Mary-Ellen Maunz

"My children have been attending lessons with Laura for 2 and a half years. They both enjoy her lessons as Laura adapts the materials she uses, the methods and games she plays to their interests and abilities. I have seen a significant improvement in their playing, and in their confidence to read music and enjoy a range of music styles".- Parent

"Laura has consistently engaged my children with her approachable lessons, which they look forward to attending and practicing for. I asked Laura to try to foster an enjoyment of music, and she's done that well. Laura provides the children a tailored set of pieces that keeps them interested.

"My children thoroughly enjoy their lessons with Laura. The content is always fun, creative and inspiring. She uses a range of teaching strategies and resources that are both educational and stimulating and which engage the children. In the past we have had more traditional styles and methods of teaching with a rather large emphasis on home practice and parental input, which my daughter found demotivating and difficult to achieve and understand. My children love to borrow from the 'music library' and the take home friends to help them to practice. This new approach has suited both of my children perfectly and they are developing a love and appreciation for all kinds of music, especially piano".- Parent

“Laura has been instrumental to my children's love for the piano. Laura has made learning fun and enjoyable through her gentle and nurturing teaching style. Laura's creative games and learning tools has always kept the children engaged and motivated. Through Laura's teaching I have watched both of my children progress very quickly and build in their confidence. I'm excited to see how far they will progress under the skilful teaching of Laura Plevey. Thank you Laura for all the work you put into each of your students”- Parent

"My daughter Eva (8 years old) has been attending piano lessons with Laura for a little over a year now. We live on the Northside of Canberra however travel each week to Laura's home studio in Fisher as this is my daughters highlight of her week. Eva enjoys the Montessori teaching approach as it's age appropriate, individualised learning and incorporates hands on activities. Eva has become very knowledgeable regarding the history of music, how to read music and how to play piano. It's been very rewarding to see Eva grow and develop her skills, understanding and passion for music. Eva speaks admiringly of Laura and her teaching ability. I highly recommend Laura's piano studio".-Parent
